ClickJan’s Hotel was simple, but nice. There was a bed, table, chairs, mini-fridge, and bathroom. The water pressure was great. They had water to refill your water bottles. And they had a golf cart to take us to the airport. Looking north and south early in the morning.
Lodging
Carmen’s Place
ClickThere are innkeepers, and there is Carmen. Carmen and Marcel moved to Bastimentos from the Netherlands three years ago, and got this Caribbean inn. Most of the lodgings are on the water. Guests are delivered via water taxi. They are called by flying a red flag at the end of the dock. Carmen is a […]
Las Lajas Beach Resort
ClickSo Ellen didn’t let me talk at first. But she made it up to me. At 11:50 that morning, she brought me an ice cold Panama beer. Morning beer. Nice. We are staying a the Las Lajas Beach Resort. The bus let us off at Las Cruces de San Felix (San Felix Crossing) on the […]
New Years at El Establo

ClickPerhaps it’s because Izhcayluma is not on VRBO, Airbnb, or Booking.com, and that we found it through word of mouth, (Regina, our Swedish travel buddy). It seems like most of the people we met here found it the same way. In any event, it is a fantastic hotel/hostel, and we recommend it to all. We […]
Sunsets
ClickNot to belabor the point, but both Ellen and I are sunset junkies. Latitude 1 B&B has not disappointed. There have been a few overcast dusks, but in general we have been treated to great sunsets most every night. Here are some of my favorites (click on any picture for slideshow mode):
Latitude 1 B&B
ClickMedical Update: Ellen is home (our current home in Ecuador) and doing well. We go in for checkups every other day. You’ll probably getting a Ellen’s Postcard from the Edge soon. Many have been asking about our current lodging situation. We are staying at “Latitude 1 B&B” with our host Susan. She has been a […]
