Pete and Lek met us at the airport. The airport was small and welcoming, and the Thai Lion Air flight was tight and quick.
There will be more about Pete and Lek and their place in the future. Turns out, the village that their place is in, was having a party to welcome the new village leader. There was a party the previous week to thank the previous leader.
We arrived at the party. Lek had found and wrapped a present. We were ushered on to a podium for a photo shot with the new leader and us. She graciously accepted the present. And we found a table.
There was much food to choose from.
The entertainment was the big thing. The band, from Chang Rai, was pretty tight. Guitar, bass, and electric drum. Various groups would go up and dance, including the folks with the pink garbs and white sashes. Perhaps the planners of this event will be called upon by the Trump inaugural committee.
Several of the men made their best efforts to get Pete and me drunk. They continuously filled out beer glasses. Each table had a bottle of Thai whiskey on it. Quite a shindig.
Then there was this guy. Not only did he try to get me drunk, but kept offering Ellen to come over to his place to check out his pig and his rubber trees.
