I just noticed that we never published this post. Here it is a few weeks late.
We had read that the Angkor National Museum was best seen prior to visiting the actual temples. Consequently, we ignored that advice and saw it after visiting Angkor Wat and Ta Proehm. This was a mistake.
We took the audio tour. There were over 70 audio clips, and we did at least 40 before sensory overload. The museum itself is beautifully laid out with galleries A though H, each dealing with a different facet of Khmer culture.
For those wishing to do a little Buddhist praying, it opened with an alter.

Don’t worry, we won’t show you pictures of every single exhibit. There are amazing pieces though. This is very much worth the effort and the audio tour is worth it!

We drove past a sausage vendor on our way back.

That night we met our travel buddies from Vientiane, Marty and Sherri for dinner. We ate at Sambo’s, near our hotels.
