We went to Eugene, Oregon to see Barbara, Hyla, and Alfonso. Barbara is a cousin. By pure coincidence, another cousin, Susan, was visiting from Hawaii. Ellen hadn’t seen her since childhood.
I first met Barbara and Hyla when they visited us in Linden Hills several years ago.
We pulled up fairly late on Saturday.
It was warm enough to enjoy conversation and catching up in the back garden. This was made excellent by Barbara’s gardens. She is a master gardener. Several neighbors, Cheryl and Don stopped in as well.
Sunday we went to the Mount Pisgah Mushroom Festival (previous post). We then attended Alfonso’s guitar recital where he and his teacher performed “Wild Horses.”
After the recital, we cooked a dinner of quinoa with mushrooms we bought at the festival, salmon salad with apples, and a salad of heirloom tomatoes.
As usual, there was much discussion of family. Today the cousins took to mapping out the family tree and debriefing on everyone.
Monday morning was breakfast at Wall of Waffles. Then Barbara lead her cousins in making silk scarves dyed with leaves.
What an adventure you’re having!! How wonderful that it includes hanging out with such amazing family members!
