As promised, here is the in-depth post on our in-town vacation living arrangements. It is 30 minutes from downtown St. Paul.
Big Lake Carnelian is just south of Square Lake, but much lesser known. Even people from the area don’t know of it. It is quite inhabited, although there are still quite a few summer cabins. They seem to be slowly being replaced by mega-homes, but there are several old-school cabins to the south of us.
Mac loves the lake, and is quite fond of wading up to his chest on warm days.
The lake is very clear, and invasive species have not yet hit, probably because it is not well known.
We’ve had a few visitors. Dinner is quite lovely on the shore, despite the rustic amenities.
