Granada

I have never been happier than traveling with my wife and Nancy, the new addition to our team.  (Actually, Nancy told me to say that, but it isn’t that bad.  Really)

Granada is a pretty great town.  Within a few hours, we were considering how it would be to spend a few months here next year.

Our Airbnb was in the Albaicin area of Granada, an area on the side of a mountain with windy narrow streets, many of which go only one way, and many of which one can only go during certain hours of the day.  Somehow it works.  Our Airbnb host was a Canadian journalist, who had been a war correspondent in 92 countries during his career.  He decided that Granada was a good place to settle.

One of the great things here is that many restaurants offer a tapa with drinks.  You can go to a place that features fried sardines, snails (caracoles), or any number of other items as its first tapa.  It also appears that wine in Spain is considered a necessity, and is very inexpensive.  We were able to find dinner for the night, and tucked in early for a big day coming up.

We took the bus into town, found a place for morning coffee, and took a free walking tour.  Like all free walking tours, the guide makes their money with tips.  Patricia, who had spent years on cruise ships and lived in Berlin, did a great job, taking us to places we might not have otherwise visited.

We did more, but you’ll need to wait for the next posts to hear.
