Introducing Majic

Jack has sent us a memo on our East Coast cruising adventure, and Ellie has sent us some background on the good ship “Majic.”  The name is assembled from the initials of children.

The boat splashes today, weather permitting.  It has been out of the water for 4 years, so the wooden hull will need some time to swell.  Then it will need to go through a series of inspections and tests to ensure all is well.

Chances are that this will take a bit longer than planned.  Ellen and I are still planning to leave early Monday morning.  We’ve budgeted 2 weeks for the overall vacation.  Having been sailors, we understand the vagaries of boating.  Nonetheless, we are really excited.

My mom tells us that my “Robinson” ancestors made their way from Duchess County in New York.  I believe the Warners also went along the Erie Canal on route to Sandusky, where they headed south to homestead in Ohio.

Ellie has sent us a link that gives us a bit of history on Majic, née Sandbar.  You can check it out here.
