KL

Kuala Lumpur is a city of 2 million in the city proper. It is one of the densest cities in the world, certainly if judging by the number of high-rise apartments. The metro area is closer to 8 million. This explains the vast number of high-rise office buildings, and the extreme building boom.

We booked a room at the Ascot Sentral, located in Little India. We’ve been stuffing our faces with amazing Indian food, often served on banana leaves. Turns out the room is a studio, and we have a kitchenette and an office.

We booked the 48 hour hop-on hop-off tour. The first day we took the “Green” or “Park” route. The next day, Ellen’s cold caught up with her, so I did the “Red” of “City” tour on my own. They were primarily looking at architecture. Some is really ugly, but it also seems like many of the cool new buildings are competing with each other.

Of course the Petronas Towers were for many years the famous buildings here, and still have the highest bridge in the world. Now there is the Merdeka 118, which is the tallest building in Southeast Asia. It was the tallest in the world, but the Burj Khalifa in Dubai has burst that bubble.

Petronas Twin Towers –

The Merdeka 118 was quite savvy in where they built, as it can be seen from all different aspects in the city, close and far.

Little India –

This was one of the first Indian enclaves to develop in the world, and it is unsurprisingly very Indian.

And a shout-out to Christi, for elevating the St. Patrick Day experience for dogs –
