Land of Medicine Buddha

Saturday we, as on many days, we wanted to take a hike.  After Ellen’s birthday brunch, we headed off to “Land of Medicine Buddha,” a place Blakey had never been.  One of the kids at Sunshower Farm goes to daycare here.

After a long drive up a narrow and curvy road, we arrived.  Land of Medicine Buddha provides classes and space for group and personal retreats, as well as over 100 acres of forest land in the Santa Cruz Mountains.  I dare say, even in California, I was surprised.  It is a beautiful facility with smatterings of redwoods, trails, yurts, temples, a stupa in the works, and a variety of Buddhist gongs, bells, and other assorted items.

The “Wish Fulfillment Temple” had a variety of icons and buddhas.  The ashes of many people also rested here.

While we didn’t actually circumambulate the stupa, (it is under construction and surrounded by a safety fence), prior to starting the “8 Verse Loop Trail”, we certainly enjoyed the place.  It strikes me as a great place to meditate, and clear one’s mind.

I highly recommend a visit if you are in the area.

Om……….
