Nobel City Hall

Our first stop on the Johan and Kristina city tour was the city hall.  It was built in the early 1900’s and was quite refreshing as it was not gothic, romanesque, or baroque.  The lines are clean and project nobility and stability.

As it is where the banquets for Nobel prizes are held, it was teaming with tourists, including many buses from Asia.

We went up the tower, passing a museum with replicas of all of the sculptures in the building.

In the courtyard there is a tree that has been declared a “Children’s Meeting Place” in 2006 by the World Championship in Cooperation.

The tower provided some impressive views of the city, the bells, and the inner workings of the carillon.
