We hopped on the Quito bus tour two blocks from our hotel. It is a double-decker bus that hits the main points.
We went through the old town, new town, and up to the winged madonna up on the hill. We hopped off at La Ronda, a restored colonial street. This is where we ate lunch, and I had my first taste of cuy, or guinea pig, a dish popular in Ecuador.
We walked to the Iglesia de Compania, which is a baroque church, considered the most ornate in Ecuador, if not South America. Much of the interior is coated in gold. We went on the main plaza where we hopped back on to the bus.
Along the Parque Carolina we saw modern businesses and apartments. This is clearly a high rent district.
Hopped off at Plaza Foch.
