Surfing in Capitola

Capitola is a beach town nestled just south of Santa Cruz, California.  One of its most notable characteristics is the surfing.  Monterey Bay’s north end curls at one end of the town, causing the waves turning into the coast to be good for surfing.

The rocky cliffs and narrow beaches, on the other hand, make for very dangerous coastline.  At least to me, an uninitiated surfer. (click a picture for slideshow mode)

I think this might have been a pretty good day, as the waves were large and smooth, (click a picture for slideshow mode):

There were several very sweet houses right on the ledge.  I suspect most of the attention would be directed outward to the water rather than to the street behind.  On the other hand, it looks like the water might be a bit rough at times:

Fun to see.
