We slept well, and woke up to rain. The forecast suggested that chances of rain would diminish as the day went on. We decided to go to the Thung Namh Bird Park, as we’d heard it was kind of a hidden gem. I don’t know if it’s just that it was Sunday, but the place was packed, again with tour buses chock full of Chinese tourists, many wielding dangerous umbrellas as it was raining.
Turns out the first big line was for the Buddha Cave, so we passed it. We headed to the Bird Park boat line. It was worth it. Please forgive the number of photos.
When we got back to shore, we went to the flower gardens.
On the way home, we passed through more of the scenic formations.
So it’s the coldest weather we’ve experienced, and we’re very glad we picked up the puffer jackets in Hoi An. Ellen got some jeans, and I think I’ll follow suit.
Ninh Binh ended up redeeming itself, even with the weather. Out guesthouse hosts were a lovely family and very helpful. And tonight, we found a Mexican restaurant within easy walking distance to our room.
