A Week in Door County

My brother Jeff and I drove to Door County, Wisconsin last Saturday.  Ostensibly it was to attend a week-long seminar about the Beatles at Bjorklunden, the Lawrence University center just south of Bailey’s Harbor on Lake Michigan.

My mom joined us at Bjorklunden, although she is attending a course on “The Book of Kells.”  Honestly, that’s a good thing, because even though she likes some Beatle’s songs, they’re really not her thing in the same was as Kells are.  I can guarantee that the movies aren’t for her.

There is much else going on while we are here.  There will be separate posts for some of it, but some of the major action is:

  • She has accepted an offer on her house which should close at the end of August if all goes well
  • We interred my dad and grandma and grandpa’s ashes
  • We’re helping out on mom’s new book Poet’s Nest.  Jeff is editing and I took a photo of her and Kate, the graphic designer for the back cover
  • We’re taking care of some administrative things

Expect to see some specialty posts in the near future.

I’m working on getting an interactive map plugin.  Until that works, here is a map that shows where some of what’s been going on is:
